Why join Kelso Camera Club?
We run a friendly, inclusive club and welcome anyone who has an interest in photography. We have a wide range of members including some professionals as well as some folk who have only just started taking photographs. In terms of equipment, our members use an equally wide variety of cameras, ranging from compact cameras through to professional quality gear. Whatever you use, or if you use nothing at all but have an interest in photographs, you’ll be sure of a warm welcome.
We hold regular Thursday evening meetings from September to June each year. We run a comprehensive programme of activities including
- interesting speakers,
- practical photography sessions with cameras,
- workshops covering many digital photographic topics,
- regular club trips to interesting venues,
and much more besides. You can find the current year’s programme of events in the Club Calendar.
Where can you find us?
We usually meet at the Abbey Row Community Centre, The Knowes, Kelso TD5 7BJ.
You can get a Google map here.
How do you go about joining us?
You’ll probably want to come and see us in action before committing to join us. Why not just come along one Thursday evening and introduce yourself? If you give our club secretary a call beforehand we’ll make sure there’s someone looking out for you to make some introductions. You’ll find you won’t need much help to get a conversation going through.
Cost of membership
There is an annual membership fee of £60.00 for adult members, £100.00 for a family membership (up to two adults and two junior members) and £10.00 for junior members (16 years and under).
There is now no weekly payment previously £1.50 for each club meeting attended. Non-members may attend 3 club meetings before being required to subscribe to a full membership. This money is used to cover the costs of accommodation and any surplus goes to club funds. Membership runs from September to the end of July the following year.
Application form
One of the things we like to do is keep a track of what our members have an interest in, and what sort of equipment and computer software they use. This helps us focus our activities on what we will all find useful. When you join, we’ll ask you fill a simple form to tell us something about yourself. You can find the joining form here or a PDF version is also available. Either complete the form on screen and print it out or print it out first and complete it by hand. Either way, just bring the form along to one of our Thursday meetings and hand it to the Secretary.
On joining you’ll be given a Starter Pack to introduce you to the Club, our activities, themes, competitions. You’ll also be registered as a Member on our website and you’ll be able to access a variety of members-only content, as well as receiving our regular Newsletter.
The organisation of the Club
The club has a formal organisation and constitution, and you can find out more here. We do encourage all our members to get involved in planning and running events. It isn’t all down to the committee!
