SUMMARY:Workshop: Long Exposure
DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Long Exposure\nThis could be either inside or outside. Meet at the Abbey Row Centre as usual. Bring your camera\, tripod and any other long exposure gadgets you may have such as neutral density filters or pinhole lenses. More experienced club members will be on hand for advice and guidance as required. Wrap up warm; you could be standing around for a little while in this workshop for obvious reasons! \nIf the weather’s good\, we’ll be outside and probably end up at the Cross Keys to warm up again. If unclement\,we’ll go inside and maybe have the opportunity to try pinholes again\, experiment with other indoor long exposure stuff\, or just have a coffee and talk photography!

DESCRIPTION:Sandy Cleland will be giving us a talk entitled “Both Sides of the Coin“. He’ll be showing digital images as well bringing some prints withn him. \nSandy say: “Natural history has always been and still is my main interest but I enjoy all types of photography\, especially subjects such as landscape and the more creative aspects of image making. I have always since my very early childhood been interested in nature but it was really the television programmes such as ‘Look’ with Peter Scott and the ‘On Safari’ series with Armand and Michaela Dennis which kindled my passion to record nature on film. DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Software Techniques \nThis session we are planning to wrap up the work flow techniques we have been discussing this winter. So\, as well as revising the work flow itself\, we’ll also cover in a bit more detail how to handle noise in your images\, as well as techniques with the camera to help avoid capturing loads of noise in the first place. We’ll leave plenty of time for hands on practice so bring your computer as usual; you might like also to bring your camera to try out some of the practical ways of improving your raw image capture.

Critique is about identifying good points and areas for possible improvement. You’ll get most value from a critique if you can say a few words about what your were trying to do with your pictures\, and if possible\, what sort of advice you would like from members. \nYou might like to refer to our Criteria for Image Critique V4 Feb 16 to get into the swing of things. Try reviewing one or two of your own pictures in the light of the Criteria. You can see a worked example of a couple of critiques using the Criteria here.
